Celebrating Culture, Community &

The Beautiful Game

Our History, Origins & Impact

What began as a response to a growing need quickly became a platform for meaningful economic engagement and community advancement.

How It Began

In the early 2000s, Berks County was undergoing a profound transformation. The Latino population was growing rapidly, and with it, a new wave of entrepreneurs, small business owners, and professionals who were contributing meaningfully to the local economy. Despite this growth, there was no dedicated organization to support, connect, or advocate for Latino business owners in a way that reflected their unique experiences and opportunities.
Recognizing this gap, a group of business and community leaders came together with a shared vision: to build an organization that would serve as a catalyst for economic empowerment, connection, and long-term growth within the Latino business community. In 2004, the Berks County Latino Chamber of Commerce was formally established as a nonprofit organization, co-founded by Angel Figueroa alongside a committed group of early leaders and entrepreneurs.

Legacy in Action

Over the years, the Berks County Latino Chamber of Commerce has grown from an emerging initiative into a trusted institution within the region. Its impact is reflected not only in the programs it delivers, but in the businesses it supports, the partnerships it builds, and the opportunities it helps create.
Through business education, technical assistance, networking, and access to resources, the Chamber has helped entrepreneurs start, grow, and sustain their businesses. It has served as a bridge between Latino business owners and the broader economic ecosystem — connecting members with financial institutions, government agencies, and corporate partners.
As the organization matured, it also stepped into a broader role — helping elevate the voice of Latino businesses and contributing to important economic conversations that shape the future of the region. This evolution has strengthened the Chamber’s ability to advocate, convene, and drive meaningful impact while remaining grounded in its original purpose: empowering Latino entrepreneurs through knowledge, connection, and opportunity.
Today, the Chamber stands as both a reflection of the community it serves and a driver of its continued growth — building on its legacy while creating new pathways for success.
